DelaWorld: Math Placement Exam
You must take the UD Math Placement Exam before attending DelaWorld 101 and no later than June 15*. Transfer students must also take the exam unless they received transfer credit specifically for MATH 221 or higher (excluding MATH 266) as indicated on their preliminary transfer credit evaluation.
Failure to complete the exam in a timely manner will hinder our ability to register you for classes and result in scheduling conflicts when you meet with your academic advisor. Failure to carefully work through the placement exam problems will result in an inaccurate placement.
Please prepare for the exam by studying the sample questions available through the link described below. Students who review and prepare for the exam will have a more accurate placement. Students who do not prepare may be placed incorrectly and find it difficult to register for the correct course. It is to your advantage to review the sample math topics before completing the exam!
To take the exam and access the review problems, please revisit the admitted student site (www.udel.edu/beabluehen) and use the link “Complete Math Placement Exam.” To access the site, you will need the user id and password established when you applied or submitted a deposit online. “First timers” can create a user id and password by following the instructions on the login page. After entering the admitted student site, follow the “Steps to Coming a Blue Hen” (on the right side).
You are not allowed to use a calculator or any other resources to complete the exam. You will have one hour to complete the exam. Once you begin the test, you cannot stop the exam and you cannot take it again. Please make sure you will have uninterrupted access and a quiet place to work.
The test consists of 36 multiple-choice questions from Intermediate Algebra, Precalculus, and Trigonometry. After completing the exam, we recommend printing a copy of your results to keep. An advisor will discuss the appropriate math course when you attend DelaWorld. The interpretation of the exam score and associated math course is included in the same location as the review problems.
*Please note: Math Placement for Honors (UHP) students must be completed by Saturday, June 7. Please revisit the admitted student site (www.udel.edu/beabluehen) for further information about the exam for UHP students.
