Operations Management focuses on the processes by which a firm produces a product or provides a service. Operations professionals address product demand, efficient means to produce a product or deliver a service, and transforming raw materials, labor and capital into final products and/or services. If you enjoy solving problems using the latest technologies, applying your math background to improve real-world situations, analyzing data and explaining it to others, or learning valuable new decision making skills, then the Operations Management major is for you.
AREA OF EMPHASIS AT DELAWARE
The Department of Business Administration offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Management. The Operations Management major focuses on the processes by which a firm produces a product or provides a service. Operations majors are concerned with addressing questions such as how much of a product will be demanded? What is the most efficient way to produce that amount of product or provide that level of service? Operations Management (OM) is all about the transformation of raw materials, labor and capital into final products and/or services. Like all programs in the Department of Business Administration, the program provides a broad liberal arts education in the first half of the program through a variety of courses in liberal arts and sciences. The program design provides flexibility in the selection of humanities and social and natural science courses. The second half of the program is concentrated in the business core and the professional Operations Management major.
