Resource Economics studies resource use and the production, distribution and consumption of goods as they relate to agriculture, natural resources and the environment. AREAS OF EMPHASIS AT DELAWARE Nowhere are the economic principles of supply and demand, resource allocation and environmental use illustrated better than in agriculture and related industries. If your interest lies in resource management, economic analysis, or weighing costs and benefits, the Resource Economics major can give you a solid base of business and economics topped with a range of specialties. A concentration in Environmental Economics is available for those who wish to focus on resource allocation, cost-benefit analyses, and how natural resources should be managed to minimize conflicts between economic growth and environmental quality. The Resource Economics major includes courses in the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics and in the Department of Food and Resource Economics. In addition to the courses that focus on your field of interest, you will fulfill requirements in mathematics; English; computers; social sciences; humanities; literature and arts; and the agricultural and biological sciences. These requirements are essential to ensure breadth and diversity in your undergraduate experience. While foreign language is not required, it is strongly recommended for those pursuing a career in resource economics.
