Entomology is the study of the most abundant wildlife on Earth--insects--and their interactions with other wildlife, humans, and the environment. AREAS OF EMPHASIS AT DELAWARE Students who major in Entomology study insect identification, behavior, ecology, structure, physiology and ways to reduce the impact of pest species. The major builds from a core of courses in biology, chemistry, and entomology, and has flexibility in course selection, which allows students to focus on specialties like pest management or insect biology. To ensure breadth in the undergraduate experience, the major requires general education courses in computers, English, mathematics, social sciences, humanities, literature and the arts. In addition, some students choose to pursue a minor in areas like biology, landscape horticulture, agricultural business or Spanish.
